Mission: To promote high musical standards in student performances of orchestral literature and to develop skills to attain this goal among students of Hawaii's public, private and home schools.
Founder: The Hawaii Youth Symphony Association was incorporated under the direction of Peter Mesrobian.

Vision: The Hawaii Youth Symphony Association envisions expanding students’ horizons through quality music education, including classical music and the instruments of the orchestra, and making this music accessible to all Hawaii students, in public, private and home schools, from kindergarten through high school.

Programs: Six music education and performance programs are offered during the school year for students from ages 8-18. During the summer two programs are offered which do not require participation in school-year programs: Summer Strings, a six-week program including beginning and intermediate classes, and the Pacific Music Institute, a six-day intensive event which is open to students from the mainland and the international community.
