Organization
Mission: Our mission is to encourage and promote the development of artistic expression and creativity in the individual and to stimulate a broader appreciation and understanding of the visual arts as a vital language in our culture.
Founder: The origin of Hui No'eau dates back to 1917, when the estate was home to Harry and Ethel Baldwin-Maui's first family of the sugar and pineapple industry. Ethel Baldwin, a noted artist, helped establish a visual arts club in 1934. This club would meet to paint, draw, or discuss their love for art. They named the club Hui No'eau--"hui" meaning club, and "no'eau" meaning skilled or artistic.

"The Hui has allowed me to grow and learn in my chosen artistic medium of watercolor painting. I have taken many classes from a broad range of artist instructors who are well respected in their field, and highly qualified with educational degrees. My five-year-old daughter has taken classes and loves her teacher and art! The Hui is a beautiful place to learn, to paint, to create, to enjoy. I recommend it highly for everyone!" -- Susan Hernandez, consultant and parent
