Mission: To preserve and perpetuate the art of live professional ballet through performances and programs designed to meet the changing needs of our diverse community.
Founder: Originated in 1981 as a civic dance company, Nashville Ballet became a professional company in 1986. Current Artistic Director, Paul Vasterling originated DancePower, Nashville Ballet's outreach and educational programs, in 1995.

Vision: Our vision to make Nashville Ballet the beloved company of middle Tennessee will begin with our outreach and educational programs. When we first come to children on their own level, we make ballet accessible to them for a lifetime.

Programs: Performances at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center; Professional graded school for children aged 3-18; Two-year trainee program; Open Division for adults and teens; DancePower: educational outreach in schools, libraries, community centers, retirement homes, etc.

Prerequisites: DancePower has no limitations. Students in the School of Nashville Ballet are placed in classes depending on proficiency and age, or by audition.

Additional Info: Art Education increases creative thinking, problem-solving skills and a love of the arts. The benefits that come with dance education are endless and include self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, balance, rhythm and coordination. Many of Nashville Ballet's programs are designed to encourage creative thinking through reading. It is our goal to build a love of dance in our community and to help build a better community through education.
