Mission: To serve as the premier visual arts resource for the diverse communities througout East Tennessee through the museum's collections, exhibitions, interpretation and preservation of original works of art.
Founder: The Knoxville Museum of Art was formerly the Dulin Gallery of Art housed in a historic mansion located near the University of Tennessee prior to moving in 1990 to its new facility on the site of the 1982 World's Fair.

Honors: The Knoxville Museum of Art has been accredited b0y the American Association of Museums(AAM). The Museum's "Alive After Five" friday night jazz performance series, now completing its eight season of 39-40 performances per year, received the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts in 1996.
