Though the Hewitt's income was modest -- John was a teacher, Vivian a librarian -- they amassed a collection piece by piece. Three years ago, the Bank of America purchased the Hewitt Collection, one of the most significant collections of African-American art in the United States. EGG meets Vivian, now widowed, for her collection's opening at Dallas' African American Museum and follows her on her search for art that speaks to her heart.
