Juan Diego Florez could have followed in the footsteps of his father, a Peruvian folk guitarist. But, as Florez says, "You can do things with your voice that with other instruments you really can't." Juan's father was also a noted singer, but Juan knew that the opera would provide him a unique opportunity to apply his gift. "Opera is about voice, really. It's about singers."
