Christopher Gist of Maryland
My ancestor, CHRISTOPHER GIST, an airstocrat from England ,emigrated to America shortly before the Revolutionary War and settled in the Baltimore, MD, area. He was a gentleman farmer, and surveyor.
He ended up as a guide for GEORGE WASHINGTON in the wilderness. And he is credited with saving GEORGE WASHINGTON’S life.
CHRISTOPHER GIST is often mentioned in history books. THANKS to him, I am eligible to belong to the D.A.R. My maiden name, MARY LEE PREUNINGER, is included in the book of descendents that the D.A.R. publishes.
So, thanks to my ancestor, CHRISTOPHER GIST, George Washington lived to fulfill his destiny.
I would be interested in learning more about him, if you might be willing to fill in the gaps.
