Cormier Family Oil Field Scandal
I am not a well known or famous Black American person, but I believe as stated that everyone has a story. I was able to search my family tree back to the early 1900′s where I discovered that my Great Grandfather moved to Liberty Texas from Louisianna and purchased over 400 acres in land for farming. During this period over 300 acres was taken away through several law suites after it was discovered that the land was rich in oil. My family has lived on this land over 100 years and continues to live on this land today.
However, we control less than 50 acres and never received any of the oil royalties that have been paid from the oil that has been pumped from the surrounding properties that were taken by the former Governor of Texas, Price Daniels. My family has fought for years, unsuccessful in getting back what was rightfully ours. I discovered this story in 1980, which was when my father, Eulis Cormier passed away. I believe that the stories that I have documented proof would make a very revealing insight into how politicians and the legal system was manipulated in favor of non-blacks, which has altered the lives of many generations to follow…
