New owners for the Boyd Page Plantation
My mother’s people are from the Nichols-Mullins area of eastern South Carolina. For as long as I can remember (almost 60 years) they have been the proud owners of many acres of land, part of which sits on the Pee Dee River not far from Myrtle Beach. Our family reunions used to be held at the site called the Old Boyd Page Plantation. While my father’s side of the family is clearly mixed with other than African blood, my mother’s side look “pure” African with beautiful, smooth very dark skin. My mother used to tell us how her grandfather was a very smart man who served as the community’s “lawyer”. For years they were self sufficient, raising animals and farming to provide food for the family.
