I learned of my grandfather through listening to casual conversations between my mother Flora Hardy, 75 and father Marion Phillips,75 about 5 or 6 years ago. I learned that the maiden name that I have carried for all this time is really incorrect because my grandmother Magnolia Anderson gave my father and his twin sister her husbands last name and not their biological fathers name which is Mitchell. Her husband Ehrman Phillips did not adopt the twins as far as he knows so I have been searching for information on Harry Mitchell ever since. My daughter is 9 years old and is now facinated with family history and I would love to give that to her and my son. My dad tells me about how he grew up on a plantation and that the money was so short that he moved my mom and at the time 2 brothers Marion & Ellis to Texas for a better life. Later he was able to convince his mother, twin sister and brother who had 9 children at the time to come as well. My father is sickly now himself and is really just wanting to know what ever happened to is father. I myself have only met one grandparnet and that is my mothers mom Jessie Williams. I have tried to find info but Mississippi is a hard state to crack especially with the fire that destroyed so much of my family history. I have located some info that we think is correct using Ancestry.com but my budget is slim so the search continues for the Mitchell Family. And hopfully I can find out more for my dad.
