My relationship to Napoleon
As a young girl I had always heard of my relationship to Napoleon Bonaparte. Of course I chose to disregard my Dad’s story, but over the years and with a little research this is what I’ve learned of my dad’s story.
When Napoleon was ruler of France, he left an unruly young nephew at home. Napoleon’s sister was at her wits end with this nephew. So Napoleon decided to put this nephew on a ship headed to Haiti. He was suppose to disembark in New Orleans but got off the ship in North Carolina where he met and married a women of (probably mixed) Indian heritage. They had a child named Estelle Bonaparte. This was my dad’s great-great grandmother. so my dad, Anatole Millet, has a maternal link to Estelle through his mother, Ernestine Armelin, his grandmother, Effie Armelin, and his great-grandmother, Mary Garrett.
