finding your roots

Russian Royalty?

Donna Holland August 20, 2012

I have done a lot of genealogy and have found some great and wonderful stories and keepsakes. But on my Mother’s side there is a mystery that I have been unable to solve for 40 years. Vilaria Romani Grabowski born in 1852 was the daughter of Count Julian Grabowski ( born 1824 died 1852) and Josephine Colvig (born 1827 died 1856) Julian was stated to be of Russian Royalty per a newspaper article. The problem is the story printed never states his fathers name, just that he as a young boy escaped the peasant uprisings with his father and a servant to France where after a few years his father died and Julian and Julian went to England where he grew to manhood and came to America to find the most beautiful American girl he could find.
To date I have been unable to find and prove anything on Count Julian Grabowski. If anyone has insight into this challenge please HELP ME.
