My obsession with genealogy began in 1991 after my mother passed away. Among her things was a book designed to keep track of all the special events for the first seven years of my life, Mom recorded EVERYTHING, from my vital statistics to all my “firsts” ; first words, first steps, first tooth, and more. At the back of the book, across two pages, was a tree that had the names of my ancestors for three generations on my father’s side and for four generations on my mother’s side.
About a year later I bought my first computer and that’s when the genealogy bug really got a hold of me.
This suited me just fine, because I always had a great curiosity about everything. I can see why they say curiosity killed the cat, it nearly killed me on more than one occasion as a child.
Over the past twenty years I’ve had a most glorious time searching for all my ancestors and distant cousins, and it’s not over yet nor, I suspect, will it ever be. JPH
