Stories My Mother Would Love
I am a researcher and writer and devote my blog to the stories of my American ancestors. My mother loved to tell me stories of her family…a tradition she and I both treasured. She passed down her grandmother’s family bible to me and boxes of old family photos and mementos. Several years ago I began the process of formally organizing our family tree and it soon became apparent to me that each of these family members had stories of their own to tell. I spend time with these wonderful human beings and explore their personal history and the times in which they live and encourage other genealogists to do the same with my storytelling. There is a richness in context after all. Too many family researchers are in the hot pursuit of finding an Old World ancestry…or a celebrated relative that they miss visiting with and old bootmaker or seamstress and the remarkable history that they made.
Everyone of these stories are my favorite and I like to think that my mother would love them, too.
