Gullah boys at the Oregon Trail’s End
My paternal Grandmother, born in Gloucester MA in 1896, gave me the gift of a passion for genealogy. Thankfully, her roots include a signer of the Mayflower Compact, and the records from that branch of our family’s story are fairly good. My daughter married a young Gullah man, born and raised in the low country of South Carolina. My two, sweet grandsons, aged 11 and 8, seem very interested in their heritage, especially the 8 year old who has told his third grade class about his 13 times Great Grandfather. I very much want to be able to help my boys flesh out their family tree, from both sides of their lineage. I can give them stories of their Pilgrim and Oregon Trail, but I’m stumped with their Gulah lineage. I really want to pass on as much of their family stories to them as possible.
