Royal ancestors and savages
My family helped to found Hartford, CT…(Colonial Ancestors, Library of Congress). We are also directly related to Prince William and Harry (they are now my 8th cousins once removed). My Aunt and Uncle who did the geneology owned Shady Glen Dairies in Manchester, CT (both deceased now). That Aunt used to say to my Mother, “Our” ancestors came over on the Mayflower…constantly rubbing it in Mom’s nose. One day, my Mother (a very shy and polite woman) said to this Aunt, “Well Bernie, whille your ancestors were on a boat making their way to this continent, “MY” ancestors were on the shore waving to them. Needless to say, this shut the old bird up for awhile. Now, I would like to explore my Mother’s heritage which in all reality is rooted in both Native Canadians and French heritage (My Grandfather’s first name was, “Napoleon,”). I would love to know the story of this family who gave my Mother courage enough to squash the ramblings of the “royal” line.
