Who am I?
My name is Tracy Simmons originally from New York City, now residing in Virginia. I am a author, penname Trayc, of two books Gisele’s Gallery & Gisele’s Chance. Growing up in NYC my ethnicity was never questioned because there were so many mixed races. Once I moved to Virginia was when the questions were asked. For some reason the south want to know what are you. And truthfully i dont know my heritage.I was told my father, William Harrison Simmons, mother was white from South Carolina and his father was indian. I only remember one of his great aunts Erma and she was dark complexed so I assumed that was from his father’s side of the family. My father told me his mother family disowned her because she had mixed children so he didnt know the “Morse” side of the family. My mother, Daisy Maxine Britt, family from North Carolina is full of stories of babies being taken and raised by strangers or other family
members. I was told her father was white and her mother , black, was his family’s housekeeper that he took into the woods and had nine children together along with the 6 between them already. When speaking to my mother of her family she always say the family never discussed their race and the family tree always seemed a dark secret. I would love to know my family history, good or bad it is still my family heritage.
