I’m SOO excited to see this episode, I’m Puerto Rican myself and have been tracing my family for about 6-7 years now. I would love to see what methods they used to find her ancestors. Can’t wait until Sunday!!!

Dr. Gates has motivated me in finding my family tree. I found that my great,great grand father was a soldier, owned property in Georgia. The exact details are still being investigated. I manage to pull out pictures through family members, who had that information passed down.

I especially loved tonight’s episode. It demonstrated that in America one can never assume anything just by looking at a person–not even at oneself. I suspect that holds true world wide by now, after all human migration, exploration and conquest. What an interesting and insightful program! Thanks to the producers and to the participants also for sharing their fascinating histories.

Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research.
