The class skit.
Update from the field: Judy Harding, Frontier School Teacher
Have you ever had a fantasy you believed could never
come true? Well, don't be so sure. I always had an
interest in the past: old cabins, abandoned
homesteads, or the lonely foundations would fill me
with all sorts of questions. And I always wished I
could travel back in time to find the answers.
As a long-time Montana school teacher, I've had the
privilege of teaching every grade, from kindergarten
to high school, and beyond, and I've often said I'd
love to teach in a one-room school house before
retiring. One-room school houses still exist here in
Montana, but there aren't many of them. Incredibly,
my wish was realized in an old sheep shed just two
months ago. The shed, our school house, was furnished with four
table desks, and four double-seated benches that the parents had made. I was hired to teach a five-week
term.

"As I sat on my bench, looking
out the window towards the creek, I saw the children
arrive, along with one horse, one cow, and several
dogs."
