Il Postino from LA Opera wins Imagen Award for Best Variety Show!

On Friday, August 10th at the 27th Annual Imagen Awards in the International Ball Room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, GREAT PERFORMANCES: Il Postino from LA Opera received the Imagen Award for Best Variety or Reality show. Based on the Oscar award-winning movie of the same name, the World Premiere performance of Il Postino was broadcast as part of the PBS Arts Fall Festival.

The work featured a dramatic and lyrical new score by acclaimed Mexican composer, Daniel Catan who, sadly, passed away prior to the broadcast. Internationally celebrated tenor Plácido Domingo starred as Pablo Neruda with tenor Charles Castronovo as Mario, “the postman.”
