Actually, "panache" is more specific, because it is the white plue with all it represents.

I found that clip intriguing. I don't know that I liked it, but I do hope that I get an opportunity to see the whole performance.

I thought all the actors were excellent with the exception of Jennifer Garner. I consider her a good screen actress, however onstage she did not make the grade. Her emoting was over the top. All the hand motions and head wagging served to distract not only from her performance but from the play as a whole. It was disappointing to say the least.

We saw this on March 22, 2009, and loved it. We noted many modernisms added, but that is o.k. What we regretted was that at the end, Cyrano says, "Ce soir quand j'entre chez Dieu," you said "my last lodging place," which is an unnecessary concession to sophisticated agnosticim. Also, the "panache" was made abstract rather than his white plume. But we cried like fools, anyhow. Pat and Bill Nottingham, Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

One of the most brilliant performances and portrayal. The passion in the acting brought tears to my eyes.

This was so disapointing, as was the San Francisco Ballet's Nutcracker. That's two not so great Great Performances performances. Cyrano with Kevin Kline is a real flop. We could barely watch it, seriously. The benchmark for Cyrano is of course the Jose Ferrer perfomance in the film classic version. In 1946 Ferrer earned one of his most celebrated stage roles, the title role in Cyrano de Bergerac. He reprised the role of Cyrano in the 1950 film version and in television adaptations. Watch any scene from the film and compare it with this stage dud. There's no comparison. This Kevin Kline version is a travesty.

Lovely performance. Kevin Kline at his best! Performed by all in the style intended. A love struck character that all in love can relate to.

I caught this last night on my local PBS channel and it makes me wish I lived in NYC so I could go see it live. Cyrano has always been a favorite of mine and I love Kevin's portrayal of the character.
