Watch the 10-minute documentary by director Matt Wolf (Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell) and Anna Farrell (Twelve Ways to Sunday) that recounts the history and summarizes the enduring significance and appeal of Opus Jazz. Choreographer (and original West Side Story dancer) Eliot Feld, Sondra Lee (one of Robbins’ original “Opus” dancers), along with other Robbins’ friends and colleagues join the current cast of dancers to contextualize the cultural and historical importance of Mr. Robbins’ career and NY Export: Opus Jazz.

Happened on Great Performances tonight. I was mesmerized. It’s been awhile since I’ve watched something and been so inspired. I can’t articulate why, I just know my heart, my being expressed yes to dance, music, creativity, life, art. Fantastic!

I caught part of this PBS Great Performances on KTEH (SF bay area) at 5am and it was captivating. Hopefully, it’s being or will be re-aired on PBS channels again.
We watched it in recording this evening – I had put it on to record unaware of its significance and background. The photography and film technique was wonderful and we were sure that Robbins would have approved. Not yet available on disc/blu-ray? We would love to show it around.
