Acclaimed tenor Anthony Dean Griffey tackles the title role in Benjamin Britten’s haunting Peter Grimes. Under investigation for unthinkable transgressions, Grimes proclaims his innocence in the face of the unrelenting accusations of his fellow townspeople. Director John Doyle—a Tony Award-winner for his interpretation of Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd on Broadway—makes his Met debut answering the challenges of this modern masterpiece. Joining Griffey’s Grimes is Patricia Racette as Ellen Orford, the woman who stands by him, with Donald Runnicles conducting.

Hello: The main thing i really want from your site is to be able to watch a complete performance. I don’t want commentary, analysis, you-tube excerpts, etc. If you can’t stream them for free or provide downloads, at least make recordings available for purchase. Are copywrites, royalties, unions, and other legalisms still in the way of delivering content to the public?

A couple of performances i am interested in, but missed: Christopher Columbus by Glass; Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny (English version).

I recorded South Pacific off the air onto a DVD. Maybe not highest definition but the music was there. Don’t let technological perfection get in the way of content delivery.
