The Guide on our TV system just said Great Performances and I wanted to know who I had just watched – bedroom/wedding night sequence from Romeo and Juliet. Absolutely outstanding. Now I want to see it in person, in addition to those we already have tickets for in this difficult economy.

  10. Suzanne says:

It isn’t commercially available, but is repeated-in many major markets- on Great Performances, at least once per year.” Commerically” available is the key term here, since, if you know where to look on opera-fanatic sites, it’s there…. However, that is against copyright laws.
One wishes that this performance as well as the popular,”Figaro” with Terfel/Fleming/Bartoli would find legitimate outlets, since there are so many requests for them….

  11. mari hooper says:

I cannot understand how the met opera released Armida and La Sonnambula almost immediately after the performances were over and yet they refuse to release Romeo and Juliette almost 2 yearsafter and with all the requests for it. The other opera I ant and they haven’t released is Don Pasquale, done this past year. It seems to me they are releasing operas that don’t get good reviews and hold back on the others. I will say however, if you want a beautiful rendition of Romeo and Juliette, the one with Roberto Alagna and Leontina Verduva is almost as good as this one.

  12. Sunny Stiklius says:

I saw Romeo et Juliette when it was broadcast live in HD to the theaters, and have been waiting for the DVD to be released. Like others, this is the ONLY version that I want — with Roberto Alagna ands Anna Netrebko. Why doesn’t the Met release it in DVD when so many people want it? It’s very aggravating. What can we do to get them to do this?

  13. Phil Friedmn says:

Please, have you scheduled a re-run of the Netrebko/Alagne/Domingo production of Romeo and Juliette?

    It’s magnificent.
