Pete Seeger! Wow ~~ does he bring back memories. I have always loved his songs, his vitality, his enthusiasm. A true American legend ~~ I grew up with his music (only I didn’t know it) listening to the Weavers, Peter Paul & Mary & oh so many other folk musicians. Pete: Happy birthday even if belated. Thanks PBS for allowing everyone to celebrate his life through his beautiful & inspirational music.

When I was 12 yrs. old, my Mom thrust me into going to see Pete Seeger Perform. I was like, YEAH MA, if you insist. At such a young impressionable age, I was dumbfounded, how this man, could get a whole crowd of people singing, and intently listening to his storys. It was my very first concert. Pete left a huge impression on me. My entire life changed after that night. I took something home with me. Embedded deep in my heart. Pete, your a true genious, and I thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Some men dream of making a differance, & some men do make a differance. Tx. Pete Seeger, for making that differance. Tolerance, wisdom, and the courage to go beyond the scope of things. Happy Birthday Pete.

Because of you, I cannot keep from singing.

Kind Regards/ Robert

My husband and I were there that glorious evening. Pete’s 90th birthday concert was our 50th birthday gift to one another. We sang our hearts out along with everyone else and left newly inspired to live our next 50 true to the the values held and taught by Pete, and to keep on singin’. Thanks, Pete, for all of the good you’ve brought to our country and our world!

Ever since 1955, I have listened to this man. And at 66, I have come a long way. To the 12 string, to the Folk 5string Banjo, the mandolin. Yes, Pete has had quite an influence on this Old Soul. Thanks,Friend!!
And may we one day, “Learn”. Peace

Thanks Mr Seeger for teaching me the songs of our Spanish Civil War when, luckly a lot of years ago, here in Spain were forbidden that freedom songs. Thanks for that breath of fresh air. Happy 90th

I’ve been searching the internet in vain trying to find the folk songs that were so important in developing my attitudes toward peace and justice without war and violence. I think we still have not learned. Pete and I are of the same generation, Pete is about 6 years older than I. Thanks for renewing the folksongs and music for all of us to enjoy and learn from. I am a member of WEDu but I’ll be sending another gift in the next couple of days.

Frank Hamilton taught me how to finger-pick back in 1968, and I sang at fundraisers for Gene McCarthy and the ACLU and George Brown and any other candidates opposed to the the Vietnam War. Sang a lot of Seeger’s popular songs, plus a couple of my favorites–Deportees and 70 Miles, about the SF Bay. Hamilton had a soul like Pete’s and whatever he taught me about the guitar and folk-singing had a lot of Seeger in it and it enriched my life and my acting and my music. Happy 90th from me at 87.

I loved hearing you when I was 18 in Madison and you came to our Hillel House to speak to us and the love has not diminished today in Jerusalem at 64. Thanks for the wonderful music Pete and Happy Birthday.

Brings back memories to this baby boomer. I’ll be writing a social studies curriculum for my district this year. Seems to me the music of the different historical eras would be nice to include.

For me, Joan Baez’s performance of “Where Have All The Flowers Gone?” in this concert was very beautiful and moving. Her social and political awareness and convictions, her strength, courage, and grace, and the beautiful and powerful way she has always communicated and shared these things in her presence, her music, and her words has always meant a great deal to me.

I wish Pete Seeger a bountiful 90th year, and I thank you for making these clips available for viewing online by those of us who couldn’t attend his birthday celebration. He is much loved and respected, and rightly so.

All of the greats all on the same stage. They are like flowers blooming in winter.
