Elton John calls Dave Clark “one of the giants of the music business.” That status began with decisions Clark made in the early days of The Dave Clark Five, when he also served as the band’s manager. Ozzy Osbourne says Clark was “light years ahead of anyone else” when the young musician made sure to own all the band’s early masters of music recordings. By doing so, Clark avoided the legal rights battles that The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Elton John would all face in their careers as they struggled for ownership over their own music.
