DANCE IN AMERICA: DANCING IN THE LIGHT: "Strange Fruit"
Marie Watson of Philadanco offers a haunting interpretation of this solo work created by Trinidadian-born choreographer Pearl Primus and set to the words of Lewis Allan's poem. " Strange Fruit," along with "Rock Daniel" and "Hard Time Blues," were the three "dances of protest" that Primus presented in her first performance in 1943 at New York's 92nd Street YMHA.

Help, it's not working!
