2004 DEGAS EXHIBITIONS GUIDE

If the film has piqued your interest in Edgar Degas and you are eager to see more of his paintings, sculptures, and drawings, here is a list of exhibitions of his work currently on view or scheduled for 2004 that you can visit or explore online.

Degas Sculptures
Four complete sets of Edgar Degas' bronzes are extant and reside in four museums throughout the world -- The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), Musée d'Orsay (Paris), Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo (Brazil), and Ny Carlsberg Glypothek (Copenhagen). This exhibition showcases one complete set -- 73 bronze sculptures -- from the collection of the Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo.

The show will be on view at San Francisco's Legion of Honor through January 18, 2004 and moves to the Boise Art Museum in June 2004. Learn more at:

Degas and the Italians in Paris
This exhibition juxtaposes the works of Edgar Degas with those of four Italian artists who were working in Paris during his lifetime and who gained inspiration from Degas' artistic skill and innovative techniques.

The show is on view at Edinburgh's Royal Scottish Academy through February 29, 2004. Learn more at:

Art in the Making: Degas
Unraveling the working techniques of a master artist is the goal of this ongoing series of exhibitions at London's National Gallery of Art. In 2004, Edgar Degas will be the artist under the microscope, so to speak, with an in-depth look at approximately 10 of his works.

The show will be on view starting in November 2004. Get a preview at:
