Upstart musical director Jerome Robbins liked collaboration as little
as Bob Fosse did, but when he found himself at the helm of "Bells Are
Ringing," a major Broadway show, he called on Fosse to co-choreograph
the production. Like many musicals of its time "Bells" was a lighthearted
comedy, full of romance and awkward situations. The musical tells the story of Ella, a lonely answering service operator so desperate for contact that she gets involved in her callers' problems -- and eventually falls in love with one of her clients. |
