That's Dancin': Fosse on Broadway
Chicago
page: 1 2 3 4

His work had always been flashy and sexy, but after his operation, he became increasingly cruel, dark, and vulgar. A number of his colleagues tried unsuccessfully to persuade him to change "Razzle Dazzle," a song which originally featured dirty jokes and an orgy on a staircase. Fosse wouldn't budge until actor Jerry Orbach hit him with a lot of convincing artistic jargon, intimidating Fosse by highlighting his lack of serious theatrical training. While "Chicago" opened to negative reviews, it eventually became a major hit, and its creator would be lauded for his grim honesty and powerful originality.
