Wilson Pickett's music is soul at its wildest: "The Wicked Pickett" wears his name well. He grew up in Detroit, and his first professional job was with the gospel Violinaires, but the world first heard him as his voice blasted out the title of the Falcons' "I Found a Love" in 1962. But no group could hold him long: he went solo and signed with Atlantic, America's top soul label, and in 1965 they had the bright idea of sending him to Memphis to cut some tracks with Booker T. and the MGs, whose guitarist,
