MICHAEL BUBLÉ: CAUGHT IN THE ACT premiered during December Pledge in 2005 on PBS (check local listings).

Inspired by the swinging big band sound of his grandfather's generation, 29-year-old Canadian phenomenon Michael Bublé has won the hearts of a new generation of fans with his charisma, stage presence, and superbly seductive voice. Inviting inevitable comparisons to a young Frank Sinatra, Bublé's unique approach to an eclectic array of popular standards reveals a keen musical intuitiveness that has rapidly distinguished him. "Bublé reinterprets every song he touches," wrote THE CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, "making them accessible to new, younger, hipper audiences who are realizing big band isn't just for grandma and grandpa." This concert special captures Michael Bublé working his vocal magic on a diverse selection of songs from his current hit album, MICHAEL BUBLÉ: IT'S TIME, including: "Feeling Good," "I've Got You Under My Skin," "Song for You," "Save the Last Dance for Me," and "Home."

Although he had been performing in Canada since his teens and even released a few independent albums, Michael Bublé's career really took off after he played at the wedding of former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney's daughter in 2000. The PM, already a fan, touted the young singer to one of the wedding guests, uber music producer David Foster. Foster soon signed Bublé to his label, 143 Records. The singer's first CD with the label, MICHAEL BUBLÉ, was released in 2003 and followed by 2004's compilation CD/DVD of studio recordings and live performances, COME FLY WITH ME. On his 2005 CD, IT'S TIME, Bublé again puts his spin on modern pop hits and American standards, but also offers an original composition he cowrote, "Home."

Read more about the singer and his music in the essay by writer Jaan Uhelszki. Check out the numbers from his L.A. concert in the song list, which also includes links to video excerpts from the performance.

Special funding for MICHAEL BUBLÉ: CAUGHT IN THE ACT was provided by the LuEsther T. Mertz Charitable Trust. Many local PBS stations are offering the DVD and CD of this program as Pledge gifts. To order these items, pledge now.
