The Romeo & Juliet Companion
Zvikov Castle The Setting: Verona. In fair Verona there were two rival families -- the Montagues
the Capulets.

As in Shakespeare's play, Verona, Italy, remains the setting for the opera. In the film the location used to represent Verona is the idyllic Zvíkov Castle, situated on a rocky hilltop in the South Bohemia region of the Czech Republic. The castle becomes the realm of the Capulets, and the drama unfolds within its walls and environs.
