Juliet forgives Romeo for killing Tybalt, and the couple runs away to Friar Lawrence's cell, where they are married. They spend their wedding night in Juliet's room and at daybreak reluctantly bid each other farewell. Juliet soon learns that her father has decided that she must marry Paris (a scene not presented in the film), and in desperation, she hurries to seek the aid of Friar Lawrence. He gives her a potion that will simulate death, which Juliet is to drink before the wedding, and pledges that she will awaken in her family's crypt with Romeo beside her. Juliet collapses in the arms of Lord Capulet in the wedding chapel and is pronounced dead.
