Keeping Score: MTT on Music is a major initiative of the San Francisco Symphony aimed at offering audiences of today a connection to classical music and the powerful emotions it conveys. Anchored by a major television series designed for PBS, the project will encompass the Internet, radio, and DVDs, as well as educational and outreach programs throughout the United States. Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) and members of the San Francisco Symphony (SFS) will talk about their passion -- music, how they became involved in it, and how they use their instruments, training, and experience to bring the composer's thoughts and emotions to life. Television Beginning with two national telecasts on June 16, 2004 on Thirteen/WNET´s Great Performances the pilot for Keeping Score is a two-part exploration of Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony. It will also explore the character and emotions contained in the music and take viewers on a journey of how classical music can enrich life.
