Salvatore Licitra (1968-2011)

GREAT PERFORMANCES mourns the passing of Italian tenor Salvatore Licitra who has died at the age of 43 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor-scooter accident in Sicily. Licitra’s unexpected Met debut in 2002, when he subbed for the ailing Luciano Pavarotti, made headlines.
