James Nix
James Nix Audio: Listen to this personal narrative

In this interview, James Nix describes the relative nonchalance of the white establishment when his father, in self-defense, kills another African American.
As long as your trouble was not against the system, your boss would get you out.
While justice may have been served in this instance, the police make clear that the leniency was based not on the law but on the demands of the powers that be. If the victim were white, the situation would never have played out the same way.

Listen to this Personal Narrative

Nix describes an event revealing how little the authorities cared about black-on-black crimes.
