Hundreds of explosions on the soft storage targets outside the core would likely release radiation and possibly trigger a meltdown. Suddenly, 25 percent of our nation's electricity would be under severe pressure to shut down. The economic risk alone makes nuclear a very tempting target. The cheapest, fastest, safest alternative is decentralized energy efficiency, which creates design, manufacture, finance, and export jobs, while reducing vulnerabilit and dependency. Far wiser to invest in making your own home energy efficient than paying for an expensive nuclear reactor. If reactors are such a great investment, how come our government caps liability at $9.4 billion, when a meltdown could cause more than $500 billion in damage? Are market insurance costs too expensive? Even more dangerous is new reactor designs that are less overpriced because they don't include concrete containment to protect the core. If anyone is an imperialist, it is Mr. Henninger who fits the category of one who doesn't recognize participatory Democracy when he sees it. How insulting to the Black Caucus who knows that African-American voters were cheated by Blackwell and the Ohio G.O.P. For shame Mr. Henninger.");document.write('');document.write('');document.write("Ann");document.write("

There is much we can do on the demand side and there is no reason that hybrid vehicles should not be affordable and available to every American - now. As in every business the demand for a product drives it's sales, pricing and profits. Demand is created in our consumer culture and addressing the demand side needs to be part of the solution. As a former resident of Alaska - leave Alaska alone, no drilling is necessary. We should not be so selfish as to continually invade other lands to rob the inhabitants of their natural resources.");document.write('');document.write('');
