On that score the science teachers get an F -- They can tell the school board they don't like it -- but it stands in as good a relationship to science as Darwin's theory. On your Jan. 21 program you should have discussed As Dollar Weakens, Hidden Strengths May Stave Off Crisis written by your Gregg Ip in your WSJ 1/18/05 issue. The incredible fiscal irresponsibility of the Bush administration is threatening to destroy our currency and standard of living!!! Don't you care? A person of Mr. Summer's stature, or for that matter any responsible person, must be extremely careful uttering such profound statements. First and foremost, it is extremely hard to compare complex organic systems with consciousness. Moreover, I am not sure if humanity still understands completely how the brain works - it is just too intricate and facinating piece of majic. Add to that all the cultural and environmental variations to the upbringing of men and women, which makes the comparison even more difficult. Finally why did a woman like Madame Marie Curie get Nobel prizes when it is difficult to get one for most male scientists? Dear Mr. Giot, I wish you had people with different points of views on you program. I used to learn from your comments juxtposed to those of Mr. Mark .. on Nightly News. And it is ironic that there is a good chance he will lose his Job, because Harvard's Motto is exactly that, VERITAS! Or, for the latinically challenged here, TRUTH!. In addition, even if he was wrong, it is absolutely unacceptable to persecute him, and for the PC Harvard Trustees to fire him, because he dared offer his Opinion, true or not. That ALSO goes 100% against the most basic characteristics of a Modern University, the ability of a person to Speak His or Her Mind, without fearing for his life, Job, etc. I thought that was the idea behind Permanent Tenure that Deserving Academics are awarded, after much effort and accomplishments. Digital recording technology renders it a mere inconvenience that my local PBS station (KLVX in Las Vegas) has relegated it to the 5 00 am Saturday morning time slot. Much more difficult to overcome is the fact that they prefer to broadcast a test pattern in this time slot rather than the actual program. This is not a one-time occurrence but has happened continually since PBS began these broadcasts. I enjoyed watching The Journal Editorial Report when it was on CNBC and like to read the columns of its contributors in the WSJ. Now I can but dream that some day I shall be fortunate enough to live in a land where I am able to view such radical programming as this. ");document.write('');document.write('');
