As a parent who 'lost' his daughter around age 2 (she is now 7), I can reassure the public that parents of autistic children are not trying to scare parents away from, nor eliminate the benefits of vaccines. However, we would like significant and adequate testing done to make sure vaccines are completely safe and free of mercury for children in the future, so we can slow this epidemic down. Parents of autistic children aren't in this for financial gain... former senator Dick Armey took care of that on his way out of office at midnight a couple years ago. If the vaccine triggered my daughters regression into the world of autism, I think we owe it to future parents to make sure this epidemic does not continue. As a new mother herself, I strongly encourage Mrs. Strassel to become more informed on this issue. The child she saves might be her own. Also, the association of an issue of this magnitude with Jane Fonda's Bus Tour, I find absolutely appalling. ");document.write('');document.write('');document.write("Marc");document.write("

The media ALWAYS put all negative stories on the front page, and lead the evening TV so-called news with them. If it bleeds it does indeed LEAD. They Claim that doing so makes them more $. HOWEVER, they forgot their pocketbook during the 8 years of the Clinton Admin, didn't they? No wonder nobody trusts the mainstream media any more, and millions leave their audiences every year for the Internet and other, more reliable sources.");document.write('');document.write('');document.write("Brian");document.write("

But don't ignore the continuing series of news releases from companies announcing that 2,000 or 15,000 workers will be cut in the downsizing and restructuring that has not stopped and will not stop. Also, 'blame' stories such as you feature on your own front page of the difficulty of finding a new job which well paid workers are experiencing.");document.write('');document.write('');document.write("Merna Morse");document.write("

Their goals of quality healthcare benefits, working conditions, and living wages came at the price of countless struggles since the late 1800s. I would assume all union workers who help publish the WSJournal you write for and who help produce the weekly tv show you appear on would not like their jobs to go South either. Retraining of 50+ yr. old workers in the textile and furniture making industries doesn't happen at the snap of a finger or the result of a editorial comment. These are workers whose livelihood has been dependent on their local indutries.");document.write('');document.write('');
