The better movie cartoons came from The Fleischers and from Warners..not
from Disney.

Max And Dave and their animators created humor from the feel of the

city and from the raw expressions of human frailities. The Termite terrace

animators made fun of all sacred cows and also spoofed adult mores.

These cartoons were not ment for kids nor were they ment to be shown
on tv..but..they did have a successful revival on many local and network
kids tv shows during the 1950's and 60's.

I've always preferred Warner Brothers cartoons to Disney cartoons. Disney's cartoons were quaint moralistic fables for young children while the W.B. cartoons were anarchistic parodies for young adults. Kids imitated Bugs and Daffy because they had funnier lines than Mickey and Donald.

Anyone who watched the Popeye cartoons unspooled on early TV will remember that the scripted dialogue spoken by Jack Mercer(spelling?), the original voice of Popeye, wasn't half as funny as his ad-lib asides.

Iam74now,and i treasure my memories of keystone kops, laurel and hardy, harold lloyd, etc. they were just plain funny, the simsons are an insult to comedy. rude and profane, a sign of our indifferant times and family manners....

Winsor McCay is spelled W-i-n-s-o-r, not Windsor (which probably would have been more correct).
