I help to care for a 16 yo girl who suffered brain damage when she was 12. She sustained a closed head injury that resulted in seizures and severe stroke leaving her unable to speak or walk. She understands everything we say and responds with smiles or grimaces. Sometimes cries. Is fed through stomach tube. I want so much to help her in some way. She lives with her mom who is in a fiancial strain. The only therapy she receives is range of motion exercies she gets from a home health nurse twice daily, me or her mom. She yelled out "mom" 2 months ago and nothing since. Can we help her with music?

I am in awe of all the wonderful information that is in this article. A true gem for anyone who is interested in the brain, its functions, and how music can affect its connections.

An excellent article that doesn't gloss over the benefits of music therapy and how it is useful. I look forward to further articles.
