Mammals: Llama

Llamas

Llamas are members of the camel family and are technically referred to as camelids. Llamas have long, dense wool covering their bodies, which ranges in color from white to brown, yellow, blue, and black. Llamas roll on the ground to maintain their wool's insulating properties.


Where do they live?:

Llamas live in Southern Peru, Bolivia, and Northern Argentina.


What do they eat?:

They munch on grass and other vegetation.


Critter Fact:

Llamas usually spit to settle an argument about food or pecking order within a group.
