Watch a sneak peek of American Eagle — Coming to NATURE Fall 2008: Photographed by three-time Emmy Award winning filmmaker Neil Rettig, American Eagle is the first HD hour on bald eagles ever. It’s an unprecedented look at nature’s fearsome beauties with never before filmed eagle behavior. Unique to North America, the bald eagle is the continent’s most recognizable aerial predator, with a shocking white head, electric yellow beak, and penetrating eyes. In the 1960s, this symbol of the United States became an emblem of environmental degradation as the pesticide DDT and other human factors brought it to the brink of extinction. But now, following its protection, and ultimately its delisting as an endangered species, the bald eagle has come roaring back!

This video looks like it’ll be a very good one, like most of the PBS videos are. The eagles are a magnificant creature to watch in the wild and the beauty of Hi-Def will bring that same beauty to those who have never seen these creatures in the wild. I look forward to seeing this and many other videaos in Hi-Def.

For 20 years I lived near the river and watched eagles just like this, perched and fishing. I’ve moved now, but am looking forward to this program. Loved the video, thank you!

I look forward to viewing this documentary about the eagle. I’m Dine’ known as Navajo. Up here Vancouver, BC a lot eagles fly in the skies. First Nations all over North Am revere the eagle.

i am a person who has worked hard on my recovery from drinking and druging. My dream is to see a eagle fly from a tree all on his own out in the wildlife of new york. Thank you for sharing this video it makes me want that serinity the eagle has in his flight for my years to come in life

I watched this show last night and it was fascinating to see what a breath-taking creature an American Eagle is. I live right on Lake Erie near Dunkirk, NY and I get treat quite often from a family of Eagles that has territory in that area. This autumn, the end of September and middle of October I got the thrill of a life time to see an old tree with a set of parents and two fledglings from this year. I would have never know what it really was until I watched that show last night. It had moments in it that made me cry, and gasp in awe … they are an amazing animal. I have watched them in this area for over 4 years, in all stages, in all stages of flight. I am always watching the skies. After the show I now know that there is so much more to learn about the American eagle. Thank you so much to the photographers and other that spend countless days taping and watching these majestic birds, what a wonderful way to spend the day. Thank you

I watched this video last nite. Excellent!!! Is this going to be re-aired or be a series? I have followed the Hancock Wildlife eagles in Vancover on a daily basis and Neil’s documentary was so enjoyable to watch the whole life cycle in one hour. We have a nest we watch about 3 miles from our house but of course we can’t ever see up into the nest. Keep up the good work.

I jus’t can’t wait for tonight on Pbs at 8 o clock to watch the eagles. This is my favorite bird. I also go bird watching with my family. I get goose bumps just watching them do what they do. Amazing!!!!!
