		<description>The harvesting bans and studies by Dr.Niles and Dr.Smith i believe will help out the horseshoe crab and red knot population a lot. Yes, it will take some time but if we continue to harvest with such abandon then will will lose two species key to the environment.</description>

		<description>As the show mentioned the &#039;crab&#039; eggs are an important source of high protein and fat, and is easily digestible at a time when the red knots&#039; digestive systems are largely shut down because of their migrations. Plus even normally the red knot probably does not eat bread, or even grain in general....</description>

		<description>Why can&#039;t the scientist lay out an alternate food supply to assist the red knot during these critical years? They must be able to digest some other types of food during their fattening up period on Deleware Bay. Throw out some bread for the poor birds, selfish scientists!</description>

		<description>As a life long resident of Slaughter Beach on the Delaware bay I can bear witness to an enormous decline of the horseshoecrab population.  I have not seen it this low in 35 years.</description>
