I’d really like to know the name of the musical piece played in the background during the show, (piano and strings) beginning just after the monologue by the woman of the wildlife trust telling of her experience watching Echo die (about 2 minutes into the episode).
    Thanks

  • Catherine H

I too am wondering about the music of this episode. I looked at the production credits hoping to learn more. The music in “Echo: An Elephant to Remember” was so beautiful on so many levels–truly touching, and so fitting for such an incredible life story. A huge Thank you to “The Music Makers” of this program –you did an amazing job. There were tears in my eyes a few times. Echo was such a force of nature–which was wonderfully and quite accurately reflected in the music.
I have noticed that the producers of Nature have done an outstanding job with the music that plays during the Nature episodes that I have been fortunate enough to view.

I had the pleasure of catching a replay of “Echo” tonight; again the music struck me as so beautiful and touched my heart. I remembered the comment from David Uhl ( and from a few other viewers on this site) and HAD to look into it and learn more. Lucky me each episode has Production Credits! Here goes: the Music is by David Mitcham;( his web site is davidmitcham.co.uk/. I just researched it–and sent him an e mail) The Cello Solo is
by Kate Gould. I looked her up as well. If I find an address for her I am going to contact her as well. The musical score for “Echo: An Elephant to Remember” was just so beautiful and touching and soulful–just like the
wondrous creature Echo herself. I want updates to see how her family has fared since she passed away.
