Extremely fast and beatiful birds, have you ever see them flying in loops at incredible speed!!! they are crazy, you can only hear them sometimes. Maybe they are really the fastest birds on Earth. I love La Jolla California for it.

Just mesmorizing; i was transfixed. Had always wondered about their nests, but to see the miniscule just-hatched chick was awe inspiring. Without a doubt, one of the BEST Nature productions i have ever had the learning pleasure of enjoying. Anxious to obtain the DVD & share this resource with others who “insist” there is ‘nothing worth watching’ on television!

The video is superb. My husband is a hummingbird fan and we were thrilled to find them using our feeders in Omaha NE as we have few flowers on our wooded property. In the summer I sit on our deck below and near the feeder to shuck corn and found that the hummingbirds still fed while I was there. One day in July I was shucking corn when I heard this low whir. When I looked it was a hummingbird flying around my head. It flew up to the feeder and then back down so close to my face I could feel the air move. I then noticed that the feeder was empty! I got the message and went to get my husband to refill the container. The birds apparently were satisfied and went back to feeding and didn’t barn storm me again.

Do hummers use the same nests over and over , or do they ever return to the same nest?
Will they use another’s nest or a vacant nest?

  • Sharon

I love this!! I love birds!!
    Thank you!!

  • Karen Fendrick

Beautiful video of fantastic birds! I’ve had numerous nests in my garden and studied them while I was a zoo docent. to answer Gwen..hummers are the original recyclers! They use materials from existing nests to build a better one.

I’m watching the lovely visuals of the program right now, only hoping for the day when such a production will keep its intrusive music and sounds effects to an absolute minimum. The sound track is annoying and an unnecessary distraction.

  • Dave

Great program! I can only imagine the time and work that went into this great production. It was jam packed with so much information . Thanks
