In order to see the latest photos added to our Flickr group in the slideshow below, you may need to log in to your Flickr account.

If your photo is not displaying in the slideshow after 48 hours, please make sure you have tagged the photo "naturealps". Still having problems?
SUBMIT YOUR ALPS PHOTOS!

"Prince of the Alps" premieres May 11 on NATURE, and in preparation we are searching for our viewers' best photos of the Alps. Have you snapped a perfect alpine scene? If you have an Alps photo that's interesting, creative, beautiful, hilarious, or simply amazing, NATURE wants to know about it.

Join our PBS NATURE Flickr group (You must be a Flickr member), and enter for a chance to win a free DVD of "Prince of the Alps" or receive an honorable mention on our Web site.

For more info on judging and prizes click here. After joining this group, upload your own Alps photos to the pool, enter the name and date the photo was taken, set the correct license and tag the photos "naturealps." It's that easy! For a more detailed explanation of how to enter the contest, click here.

In order to see the latest Alps photo entries in the slideshow on the left, you may need to log in to your Flickr account.

Deadline for submission:
Sunday, May 18, 2008 12pm ET

Winner announced:
Thursday, June 12, 2008

Before entering the contest, please read the full contest rules.

How to Enter:

To enter the contest, you'll need a Flickr account. Then, follow these easy steps:
  1. Join the PBS NATURE Flickr group.

  2. Upload your Alps photo to your Flickr account.

  3. Tag the photo with the tag "naturealps" -- This step will make sure the judges will see it, and will add it to the photo stream on our site.

  4. Enter a description, telling us the subject of the photo, along with the place and date when the photo was taken. The photo must be of the Alps in order to be considered, and you must be the photographer. Do not upload illegal content of any kind.

  5. You must set the license for your photo as either "Attribution-NonCommercial Creative Commons" or "Attribution Creative Commons" (What does this mean?). To do this, open the photo from your Flickr account. To the right of your photo, you'll see a heading that says "Additional Information." Below it is the current license setting for this photo. If it says "All rights reserved," you'll need to click edit and change the license in order to be eligible to participate in the contest. If you want, it's also possible to change the license on all of your Flickr photos at once.

  6. Add your Alps photo to the PBS NATURE Flickr group, to share it with NATURE fans everywhere. (How do I do this?) The photo must be added to our Flickr group in order to be considered.

  7. Important: Be sure to check the email account you used to sign up for Flickr! If you win, we will contact you through Flickr.
Make sure you follow these steps carefully, or your photo may be disqualified.
Judging and Prizes

Five NATURE producers will judge which photo is, in their opinion, the best Alps photo. The winner and four runners-up will receive a free copy of "Prince of the Alps" on DVD and will be posted in our winners circle slideshow. Five other submissions will receive honorable mention on the NATURE Web site and will be posted on our winners circle slideshow.
