Welcome to NATURE on the Web. Each week, we present a Web piece based on that week's program. This week, come face to face with one of the natural world's oddities: a black bear with white fur called the GHOST BEAR.

Get the inside story of how NATURE's filmmakers got close to the bear as he grew up, learn why the ancient home of the ghost bear is in danger, and find more information about bears, both in print and on the Web, in our Resources section.

Be sure to check out the broadcast schedule for the 1997-1998 season, give us your feedback about the Web site and the programs in Dear NATURE, take a look at the winning entries in the Extraordinary Dogs Contest for Kids, held in March and April, 1997, and try to solve our NATURE Puzzles.

Note: This GHOST BEAR Web piece is premiering in conjunction with the PBS national schedule for NATURE, not the local Thirteen/WNET schedule.

Production Credits.
