Work in groups of four to address the problem. As a group, you will hypothesize possible solutions, conduct research and develop one or more possible solutions.

1. Suggest a hypothesis for a possible solution

a. Discuss the issues, reviewing what you have seen and heard.
b. Organize a logical direction of inquiry based on the hypotheses you came up with.

2. Research the problem

a. Present and discuss the data you find.
b. Revise your hypotheses based on the data you find and the discussions you have as a group.

3. Develop a solution

a. The solution can be developed from a hypothesis that has been corroborated by the data and discussion.
b. Integrate different solutions into a synthesis.

4. Present a report

a. Write a joint report explaining your solution.
b. Create an oral presentation of your solution to the class.

5. Final report and reassessment

a. As a class, we will discuss and vote on the different solutions.
b. You may be asked to state your position on the solution to the problem in a written report. If your position has changed since the presentations, report on the information that you saw or heard that changed it.
